The Uploaded File Could Not Be Moved Error In WordPress on IIS7

When you are running your WordPress on IIS7, you may get the following error when using the Upload/Insert in WordPress:

“The uploaded file could not be moved to C:\inetpub\www\myblog\wp-content\upload

To resolve this problem, first try giving the NETWORK SERVICE account full access to your upload folder:

Give NETWORK SERVICE full access to the uploads folder

If that does not help, try adding your local IUSR account full access to the upload folder. If you are on a domain, also try giving your DOMAIN\IIS_IUSRS account full access.

Finally, if you are still getting an error from WordPress when uploading a file, go to your blog website in IIS Manager and select Authentication from the right pane:

Then select to edit Anonymous Authentication properties:

Once there, chances are the user identity is set to a specific user. Change the user identity to be Application pool identity and you should be good to go!
